Welcome to Nursery!

Welcome to St.Agnes Nursery. The class teacher in Nursery is Miss C Dias the Nursery Nurses are Faye Kitchener and Mabel Chan  and Teaching Assistant is Mary Leahy.

In nursery we follow the Early Years Foundation stage (EYFS) Framework. We base our activities around the seven areas of learning which are:

Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Physical Development
Communication and Language
Numeracy
Literacy
Understanding the World
Expressive Art and Design

Our activities are largely child initiated, where the children choose the activities they wish to take part in. We also have daily carpet sessions and small group adult led activities.

Literacy carpet sessions in nursery are largely based around storybooks. The children become familiar with stories and characters and begin to learn there are different types of books. We teach phonics in line with the ‘Letters and Sounds’ frame work.
