Welcome to Year 4!
Welcome to Year 4 at St. Agnes. The adults working with year 4 this year are
Mr Crow (class teacher) and Debbie Smith (HLTA). We hope to learn about many new exciting things and have an enjoyable year.
As well as improving reading, writing and numerical skills, Year 4 children experience wide-ranging opportunities from a rich and well-resourced curriculum. Throughout the year we will be working towards implementing the new curriculum for Literacy, Numeracy and Science.
We follow the ‘Come and See’ religious educational programme. We also study a range of interesting topics such as Children in World War II in History and Europe. The children also have the opportunity to develop their creative side in art in which we will be looking at sketching techniques.
In addition we are very lucky to be taught by specialist teachers throughout the week including Spanish, Guitar and Music.
We also will be studying
PE: every Tuesday
Music: World War II songs and exploring arrangements
ICT: Tower Hamlets ICT Scheme
We have high expectations of all pupils in and out of the classroom. All children are expected to follow the classroom rules which are decided on at the start of the new school year. We like to create a calm and safe atmosphere for all children at St. Agnes.
Children are expected to read every evening with an adult and have their reading record signed. Homework is given out every Friday and is returned completed on Tuesdays. Literacy, Numeracy, Spellings (with sentences) and Times Table homework is to be completed each week.
Sometimes the children will be asked to research, make model or complete a project on certain topic throughout the year. We encourage parents to take an active role in their children’s learning.
